Cat with coins
I bought this cat from Kinokuniya (a Japanese bookstore chain). The cat is holding a Koban (小判) which is a traditional Japanese gold coin. The words on the cat say "sufficient in wealth".
Guest beckoning cat
I found this cat at a souvenir shop at Tokyo Narita Airport. On the cat is written a four character idiom (known as yojijukugo in Japanese and chenyu in Chinese) that says to have guests arrive in large numbers.
About this blog
Maneki-Neko (招き猫), which means "fortune beckoning cat" are Japanese cat figurines that are believed to attract good fortune. I collect Maneki-Neko as a hobby and this blog features pictures of the cats I have.
